COOKING KINECTION
Users Manual
Role: Project manager, designer, and gameplay engineer
Platforms: PC (Unity), Microsoft Kinect
Completed: May 2012
Cooking Kinection is a prototype built as part of a 5-person team for a semester-long game design capstone project for my Masters degree at the University of Pennsylvania. The game is entirely controlled using a Microsoft Kinect (demonstrated by yours truly in the video), and was built using the Unity game engine.
The game stars a young cook with dreams to become the best chef in the world. Players must guide the chef through different levels by completing recipes which successfully match customer preferences. A fitness element was included to estimate the number of calories burned by performing the motions associated with each recipe step.
Contributions:
Integrated all code, content, UI, and audio into the final game
Established and maintained all gameplay systems and core loop
Half of the Kinect motions
3D assets for all food and ingredients
Menu screens and HUD
