This project focused heavily on manipulating shapes in different ways with Adobe Illustrator. To begin the project, I created one closed shape and then replicated it twice to create a simple shape composition. Then, I took a 1×1 cutout from that composition to use as the basis for a pattern. That 1×1 square was replicated multiple times in different orientations to create different pattern styles. The first image is an example of my original shape composition and some of the resulting patterns, and the second is compilation I made of multiple different patterns.
Once I had the compilation of patterns, I selected a few and began manipulating and transforming those base patterns to form a larger compositions. By repeating and modifying transformations on the pattern in various ways, a full composition could be formed. As a final touch, one or two colors were added to the original 1×1 cube to make the entire piece more vibrant.
